hUMAN DESIGN FOR WRITERS
Human Design is a wonderful tool to understand ourselves better and how we best operate in the world. I wish I had known about this years ago as it has given me such validation as a writer, artist, and coach. You don’t have to feel lost, blocked, and confused– you can be clear and validated in your desire when you understand your unique design.
Let’s use my own chart to break down briefly how you can understand your writing personality based off your human design.
“IN THE MOMENT YOU CAN TRULY EMBRACE UNIQUENESS, YOU ARE DIVINE. ”
— Ra Uru Hu
First off, what on earth is human design? Think science and spirituality had a baby to give you a blueprint of your energetic make-up based off your date, time of birth, and location. Every single person has a unique design and when we understand ours, we can live into our creative potential with confidence and clarity.
My profile is a 4/6 sacral manifesting generator. which means I am role model opportunist. That is why I’m multi-passionate, work quickly, and impact people around me most when I’m writing from my deepest desire (even if it doesn’t make sense to others.) My type gives me hyper focus to work really quickly if I’m passionate about what I’m working on (Think a book a year). This only works though if my energy is focused on one writing project at a time with dedicated time blocking.
Speaking of time blocking and writing ritual. I have a number of gates that support dedicated focused energy. Gate 5 is fixed patterns. This gate defined makes rituals and rhythms really important to me. Having a consistent time to write, along with sacred space and practice is essential to keep your focus. If i don’t have this, then I will lean into that writer’s resistance. With gate 9, the gate of focus, I can work on a specific task for long periods of time with unblocked attention to it. Along with Gate 14 that gives me the incredible ability to sustain creative work for hours at a time. This is why I can work head’s down for five — eight hours at a time when I am into a specific project.
In terms of what I am meant to write, my G-center and throat is defined, meaning I would do well to share about identity and direction in life. I also have the 1034 channel, which is the research channel. This channel specifically drives me towards self-knowledge and self-improvement. With this channel, I would do well to write within the genre of self-help speaking from my own area of expertise and lessons that have been gleaned over the years.
Lastly, As a writing career, I have The Artist Channel (0108) which means I am made to create and share with the world. I am multi-passionate as a Manifesting Generator and can handle a lot of different spinning wheels that go along with being a writer, marketing, the business of writing, and so on. Totally makes sense, as I love the diversity for running multiple storytelling platforms, being a writing coach, editor, podcaster, and writing my own books as well.
Writing tips for my unique design:
Block off large chunks of time for dedicated writing projects to focus energy
Read and have inspiring material close by to inspire and learn from
Share your writing and process with the world
You have a lot of individual energy, so work well alone.
Dedicated writing space and music to focus.
Write what most lights you up, even if it doesn’t make sense to others.
From a marketing standpoint, networking will work well for you.
You could totally write a book a year, but focus your energy to get it done.
There is a lot more to be said here, but I think you get the idea. Our human design is an incredible tool to understand our writing personality. Want to understand yours as well?
